Illinois recently became the first state to ban microbeads, aka those little plastic beads often found in facial and body scrubs. While they may feel like they’re helping clean your skin, they are definitely not helping the environment when they get washed down the drain and we’re not convinced that they are great for your skin either.
Juice Beauty Founder Karen Behnke shares, “We are so thrilled that a movement to ban microbeads from conventional beauty products has begun…plastic chemically-laden beads are floating around and ending up in our water systems! Exfoliate instead with products that contain dissolving jojoba beads or organic raw cane sugars, which will be better for your skin and won’t harm the environment!”
