In a recent post, we shared a few tips on detoxing on the inside. Because eating the right foods is just as important as choosing the right skin care products, we thought we’d share more about the powerful ingredients we put into our product formulations and why you should be getting more of them in your diet.
Omega-3 fatty acids, also known as the “good fats”, are not only great for your heart but are also terrific for skin because they help skin retain more water and look more supple and youthful. For that reason, we include essential fatty acids, derived from vegetables, in several of our products, such as our Organic Treatment Oil and Nutrient Moisturizer. Boost your fatty acid intake by eating more seafood such as wild salmon, organic walnuts, healthful organic oils and flax seeds. We love this avocado, salmon salad with kale recipe!
Aging skin can be a byproduct of free radical damage which occurs naturally as you age as well as through sun exposure, pollution and more. To combat free radical damage—make friends with antioxidants! Antioxidants can neutralize free radical activity, which can help visibly diminish skin cell damage, resulting in more youthful, healthy looking skin. It’s a big reason why we created our free radical fighting Antioxidant Serum and Antioxidant Moisturizer power duo.
Of the antioxidant vitamins, Vitamin A, or retinol, is a powerful age defy vitamin because when applied to the skin it’s been found to help with cell turnover and reveal younger looking and feeling skin. Try eating leafy greens, squash, pumpkin and sweet potato for loads of Vitamin A.
And, let’s not forget Vitamin C, another antioxidant vitamin and powerful skin care ingredient that helps improve skin tone and texture and fade brown spots to reveal a brighter complexion. Since our products start with an organic botanical juice base, and we also add Vitamin C, we have a very high content of Vitamin C in our products.
Papaya, peppers, broccoli, kale, strawberries, and kiwi, are all chock-full of Vitamin C, and they’re delicious too! Make sure to treat yourself to multiple servings a day for great looking skin and to help guard yourself against the sniffles.
