Grapes were brought to the USA hundreds of years ago from Europe and are in fact a type of berry with more than 8,000 grape varieties from about 60 species. The Juice Beauty farm is located in the Dry Creek Valley area of Northern California, a location that offers the perfect growing conditions for grapes like Cabernet, Zinfandel and Sauvignon Blanc, the region’s signature wines, as well as Bordeaux and Rhone varietals.

Grapes are a wonderful fruit for nutrition and health. One cup of grapes, with about 100 calories, provides more than a quarter of the daily recommended values of vitamins K and C. Grape seeds, which are also edible, are chock-full of antioxidants and resveratrol, which make them ideal for skincare as antioxidants that fight free radicals that are damaging to the skin. Resveratrol also provides strong soothing properties for the skin. Additionally, grapes are an excellent source of tartaric acid that helps with skin rejuvenation and the appearance of aging skin.

Studies have shown positive protective effects of resveratrol against oxidative stress and damage. Oxidative stress can be generated by a variety of factors, including cigarette smoke, extreme temperature change, and exposure to UV radiation.
