Her path…
Karen has enjoyed a long and successful entrepreneurial career in health and wellness by marrying her passion for helping people enjoy healthier lifestyles with her skill at building mission-driven businesses. She started one of the first Corporate Wellness Companies in the country and then merged it into the multi-billion United Healthcare/PacifiCare corporation during the 80’s and 90’s. She then served on the Board of Directors at 24 Hour Fitness during their cyber growth period in the late 90’s and early 2000’s.
Upon becoming pregnant with her first child at the age of 40, Karen really began taking a closer look at the personal care products she was using. She was astounded to learn that, although the skin absorbs over 60% of what is placed on it, there were very few available healthy personal care products that worked well. To fill this obvious need, she set out on a mission to develop something safe, efficacious and still lovely to use.
The idea for Juice was born…
Using her own passion and knowledge, Karen assembled a team of experienced professionals and PhD scientists who had a profound understanding of science and a deep passion for organic formulations. She imagined a product that didn’t use useless or unhealthy fillers and instead wanted every drop to feed and nourish the skin. Karen subsequently obtained the name ‘Juice Beauty’ and began development immediately. Can you imagine trying to get beauty scientists to formulate with organic juices (including fruit, aloe, jojoba, and shea) instead of the two bases that are traditionally used – water (that really dilutes ingredients) or petroleum (which suffocates the skin among other scary things…)?! To say it was quite the process is an understatement. Along with Juice Beauty’s team of scientists, she and her team pioneered the organic juice based formulations that are so fitting to the brand name.
Over the past 7 years, Juice Beauty has expanded to five Collections and developed the entire family of products to be Clinically Validated yet Authentically Organic. Juice Beauty is continuously acknowledged in the media with “best of” awards and was just recently awarded its first patent for the unique Green Apple Peel formulation.
